The results of the Tstream Editor Studio inquiry

Three weeks ago, we finalized the first Tstream Editor Studio inquiry. We were happy that quite a few of you took the time to participate (77). We were also glad for the overall appreciation of TES. We thank all of you that participated.

With a score of 33%, Tstream Editor Studio was second best after the 45% for Trados, leaving Wordfast in third position with a 9% score. Considering that with these two competitors, we are actually up against Microsoft Word, we can safely say that this is not a bad result at all.

We got great scores for support, ease of installation and ease of use, stability, stripping of formatting (so you can concentrate on the translation) and speed and ease of use of the find functionality. On the other hand, we got lower scores for quality of the built-in spelling checker and quality of the machine translation proposals.

Above all, we were surprised that the score for the overall “time-to-finish” using Tstream Editor Studio for producing translations was not as high as expected. This, together with the scores and an analysis of all your comments, suggestions and questions in the free text fields, may indicate an insufficient awareness of the recommended working procedures for Tstream Editor Studio.

We know, we know …, nobody has the time to read help-files, especially if one is already behind schedule. That is why we have decided to start with a series of newsflashes with tips for enhancing the speed and the pleasure of working with Tstream Editor Studio. Short enough to read and, interesting enough to remember. We will of course also keep improving Tstream Editor Studio where appropriate.

Next week, we’ll explain how you can easily integrate the Microsoft Office spelling checkers in Tstream Editor Studio.
